The Spirit of Things by Fr. Bob - Take Disciple Maker Index Survey Now!
As mentioned previously in this space and eluded to in last week’s 2023 Parish Appeal talk regarding Bishop Zubik’s desire to build up the parishes in the diocese, our parish and all the other parishes throughout the Diocese of Pittsburgh are participating in the Disciple Maker Index Survey, conducted by the Catholic Leadership Institute.
It’s official! The online link to the Disciple Maker Index Survey (DMI) is now operational and will remain open through March 31. We need your help in taking 10 to 15 minutes of your time to take the survey. The more people who take the survey, the more quality information we can get back from it. The survey will ask you to reflect on your own spiritual life, how you would like to grow spiritually and how St. John XXIII Parish can better serve your needs. Please be honest in your answers. All responses will be confidential and the parish will only receive information about the community as whole.
We will receive the results back early this Summer, and we will share with you what we have learned and how we compare to other parishes in the diocese and across the country. Most importantly, our Pastoral Council, staff, and parish leaders will be able to use this information in planning for the future in order to help us grow into the best disciples that Jesus calls us to be. As we look at our planning, the diocese will be offering us assistance in coming up with a plan and hold us accountable to various deadlines as we go through the process. They will also be measuring our results so that we can see our progress.
It all begins with you and the few minutes that you take for the survey so that we can get back accurate information. We are hoping for 1,000 responses. If you are in a group or ministry within the parish, you will receive encouragement from your ministry leader to take the survey. The DMI is open to everyone high school age and above. If you are a high school student, a young adult, a young couple preparing for marriage or young parents, I hope you will participate. If you are a regular at Mass or not currently attending, we need to hear from you. If you are new to the parish or have been a member your entire life, what are your thoughts?
While we prefer for you to take the survey online, paper copies of the survey are available in the Narthex of both churches. To take the survey, please go to button below, the link at the end of this article or scan the QR code with your phone. Thank you for helping with this important project!
