The Christian Women of St. John XXIII are ready to receive clean empty shoeboxes as well as donations of personal items which will be packed and wrapped as a generous gift for the many recipients through Appalachian Outreach. This is at least the fifteenth annual event. Appalachian Outreach stretches helping hands into 26 different counties (2 in KY, 2 in PA, and 22 in WV). Through the parish’s generosity, we were able to send 862 boxes last year, and hope this year to reach 1000.
What to contribute? Any personal care products like bars of soap, toothpaste and brushes, shampoo, conditioner, lip balm, small packets of tissues, razors, new combs, brushes, deodorant, shaving cream, hand lotion, gloves, winter caps, scarves, socks, pencils, pens, crayons and small reading and/or coloring books, and small toys (remember “shoebox” size). Please do not include any medicines, opened products, or magazines.
Where to leave donations? Boxes and donations can be left in the lobby of Finley Hall from 8:00 am—12:00 pm or inside the double doors to O’Brien Hall from today until October 20. Your kindness is greatly appreciated!
