Bishop Waltersheid, one of the auxiliary bishops of Pittsburgh, will be in the parish this week at St. Benedict on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings to lead a Parish Mission. A parish mission is like a retreat. There was a question of the survey last Spring about how many people had made a spiritual retreat, which scored low. This is an effort to raise that number a little bit. It’s also an opportunity for each of us to reset our faith journey, from wherever or whatever we were doing or not doing during the Summer.
Bishop Waltersheid and I were classmates in the seminary at the North American College in Rome. He was studying for the Diocese of Harrisburg, and I was studying for the Diocese of Pittsburgh. We were both ordained the exact same day (July 11, 1992) in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh respectively.
